HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS (HPV) VACCINE – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Genital human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted virus in the world. HPV infection can cause lesions , skin cancer or cervical cancer. There are more than 130 known types of HPV virus. More than 80 % of sexually active women are infected with HPV at sometime in their lives. Vaccines give protection against most of the dangerous types of HPV.
Cervical cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer death among women around the world. HPV is also associated with several less common types of cancer in both men and women. It can also cause genital warts and warts in the upper respiratory tract. (more…)
